SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Do It Live Productions makes its debut with KING HENRY the SIXTH, a brutal contemporized adaptation of Shakespeare’s saga about a King whose Monarchy isn't as absolute as he'd like. Director Andrew Nolan’s production splices two of Shakespeare’s plays together to create a fast-paced exploration of what happens to one man’s search for happiness when the rest of the world’s on a quest for glory, coming September 2, 2011.

Let's face it, King Henry, you're a nice guy. The only bad news is, Parliament wants to see you hanged. Nobody knows who started those riots in London. Your happy marriage cost you your father's part of France. And once your Uncle Gloucester's gone, so's your head.

"Henry VI is about the terror of seeing kids with Uzis marching up Valencia. It's the stuff of nightmares and it's happening right now in the world. I want to bring that to the stage.” - Director Andrew Nolan

Andrew Nolan has staged a play about a country gone mad with love for it's own image. After England loses France, a populist uprising burns half of London to the ground.  Eventually the riot escalates to a coup and Henry starts to take things a little more seriously.  Using actual footage of the London Riots, King Henry the Sixth tears down the walls of alienation that keep us comfortably safe from London, Libya, and Greece.

KING HENRY THE SIXTH runs September 2nd to 17th, 2011, with various show times as follows:  Sep 2-3 @ 8pm; Sep 8-10th @ 8pm and Sep 15-17th @ 8pm.  Tickets cost $15 and are available at the door or online at brownpapertickets.com.  More information at KingHenrySix.blogspot.com

ABOUT DO IT LIVE:  Having assembled a dirty dozen of the hungriest actors the formidable SF State has to offer, Do It Live wants to see an SF that likes its theater like it likes its food:  irreverent, cross-disciplinary, ranging from the refined classics to the downright insane and unheard of--like cultivating the theatrical equivalent of Rum and Cornflake Ice Cream.  And this crack team of starving SF State Alums can do just that. They're in love with the classics, but tired of same-old, same-old, and what they lack in mileage they make up for in enthusiasm.
